After Inge Hofkens earned her master’s degree in applied economics in Antwerp, she started as a scrap purchaser at Metallo in 1993. In her first ten years in Beerse, she occupied different positions on the purchasing, processing and trading side of the recycling business. As such she leverages extensive expertise in secondary materials to deliver impact. Afterwards, she moved to sales and hedging metal price risk, gradually growing into the areas of marketing and communication, business development and business strategy.

After nearly 30 years as an experienced management executive at Metallo, she was closely involved in the sale of the Metallo Group to the German Aurubis Group and subsequently in the integration of the Metallo sites within Aurubis. In January 2021, she took on the position of Managing Director at Aurubis Olen.

Inge Hofkens was appointed to the Aurubis AG Executive Board as Chief Operations Officer Multimetal Recycling effective January 1, 2023.

Since 2025, Inge has served on the board of the BDI Circular Economy Initiative, bringing her metals recycling expertise to the table and working with industry peers to advance circular-economy solutions.
